LIVERMORE (KRON) — Calfire and the Alameda County Fire Department are battling a 50 acre brush fire just east of Livermore.

The fire started around 8:15 p.m near site 300 of Lawrence Livermore Laboratories.

CalFire sent out this tweet just after 9 p.m.

According to Brianna Bishop, spokesperson for Lawrence Livermore Labs, the fire started after heavy winds dropped a power line.

Within the hour, CalFire announced that the fire was 5% contained, but the fire had grown to 200 acres.

KRON 4 weathercaster Diane Tuazon says there are wind gusts of up to 20 miles per hour in that area. They are not expected to die down until the early morning hours.

This is a developing fire and updates will be given as they are provided.
