Firefighter hurt while battling San Martin grass fire

SAN MARTIN (KRON) — A firefighter was hurt while battling a 10-acre grass fire in San Martin Monday afternoon.

Around 2:20 p.m., firefighters with Cal Fire were called to a grass fire near the corner of Santa Teresa Boulevard and California Avenue.

Within about an hour, officials had the fire fully contained.

The injured firefighter suffered a sprained ankle while working to contain the fire.

The residents of two homes were evacuated because the blaze was threatening both structures, Cal Fire Division Chief Jamie Norton said. Norton said that firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to those two nearby structures.

No other details were immediately available.
