CASTRO VALLEY (KRON) — A one-alarm fire killed a woman on Sunday morning, according to Alameda County Fire.
The fire was reported around 6:16 a.m. at a two-story town home on the 20000 block of San Miguel Avenue, which is 150 feet away from the firehouse, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
Firefighters were able to contain flames to the unit in which they started, and the fire was extinguished by about 6:30 a.m., Knowles said.
Most of damage occurred on the townhouse’s second floor, according to Knowles.
A neighboring townhouse was evacuated but it was not immediately clear if it was also damaged.
Alameda County Fire says the fire in under investigation.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
