OAKLAND (BCN) — An Oakland man was charged Friday for a drive-by shooting in West Oakland earlier this month that killed one man and injured another, according to court records.

Daniel Esecyour Casey, 32, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and shooting from a moving vehicle for the shooting at 11:10 a.m. on Feb. 11 in the 1000 block of 24th Street near Linden Street, according to prosecutors.

Albert Easley, 35, of Oakland, and another man were both hit by gunfire. Easley died at a hospital about 90 minutes later.

Investigators obtained a warrant for Casey’s arrest after the shooting. U.S. Marshals deputies spotted him walking in the 2400 block of 25th Avenue in Oakland at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested him, according to Oakland police.

When he was arrested, the deputies found him with a stolen gun loaded with 14 rounds and determined he was on felony probation for a 2013 conviction for three counts of receiving stolen property. In addition to the charges for the shooting, Casey was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to court records.

Police did not disclose a possible motive in the shooting.

Casey remains in Santa Rita Jail without bail and was scheduled to appear in court Monday morning to enter a plea, according to jail records.
