SAN JOSE (KRON) — Two people were shot in San Jose Sunday morning, resulting in the city’s 40th homicide, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Lavonne Avenue on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival two people were discovered suffering from at least one gun-shot wound each.

As protocol both victims were transported to a hospital nearby.

One victim, who has been identified as 35-year-old Laura Garcia died shortly after arriving to the hospital. The second suspect, a male, suffered from non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators from the San Jose PD Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation are looking into this homicide.

According to investigators, the motive and circumstances of the shooting are unknown. Police have not arrested nor identified the two male suspects involved in this investigation.

Both male suspects are described as Hispanic males in their early 20’s.

This is the city’s 40th homicide for the year of 2016.
