SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Tuesday, Aug. 11 marks one year since Robin Williams took his own life in his Tiburon home.
The death of the 63-year-old was unexpected, although afterwards, it was revealed that he had been suffering from the early stages of Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
On Thursday, people were seen outside the “Mrs. Doubtfire” house on Steiner Street in San Francisco paying tribute to the comedic actor. Some wrote messages on the concrete near the house to honor his memory. In the movie, Williams
played a cross-dressing housekeeper, who posed as a 60-year-old nanny so he could spend more time with his children.
The rainbow-arched tunnel that connects the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin county has been named after Williams. It is expected that the signs for the Robin Williams Tunnel should be installed by early fall.
One of his final movies “Boulevard” opened on July 17 to critical acclaim.
