A family in the North Bay is desperately searching for justice after their daughter was killed in a hit-and-run–and the driver responsible has not been caught.
On Friday night, the family is offering a $12,000 reward in hopes of getting some answers.
KRON4 spoke to the victim’s mother. They tell KRON4 it has been really hard.
It’s been two months since the accident and still no arrest.
So, they pulled together $12,000 and are asking anyone with information about the accident to come forward.
Marie Siegenthaler was heading home to San Francisco on Mar. 26 but she never made it.
The California Highway Patrol says she was traveling on 101 south around the Tiburon exit when a driver struck her motorcycle and fled.
“It feels like I can never laugh about anything really again,” mother Connie Siegenthaler said. “And I know that’s not true. I know I will. But it’s just so painful right now.”
Marie’s body was ejected onto the roadway and was struck by another driver less than a minute later. That driver stopped to help.
“You know, she was really…was just kind of loving life,” Siegenthaler said. “And then to be struck down like this, particularly by somebody who just then left. And then she was hit again by a second vehicle and I cannot get that image out of my mind. You know, it’s really hard.”
The night of the accident, Marie had gone to the movies with her three siblings. Afterward, she and her brother rode their motorcycles to San Francisco, but when he didn’t see her at home, he went back up 101 and ran into the tragic scene.
Marie was only 29 and just starting the best chapter of her life.
“Marie was in a great place in her life,” Siegenthaler said. “You know, she had a wonderful wide circle of friends. She was very happy with the work she was doing. She was doing amazing art, incredible art.
