FAIRFIELD (KRON)—Fairfield police arrested a man for trying to rob a bank Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at 12:40 p.m. at a bank on the 300 block of Dickson Hill Road.

The man came into the bank and told a employee he would like to make a withdrawl. He then opened his backpack and brandished a handgun.

The employee could not open the vault, so the suspect left.

Police arrived to the scene of the attempted robbery and two officers spotted a someone matching the suspect’s description.

The suspect was arrested for attempted robbery and a fake handgun was found inside his backpack.

Police have identified the suspect as Shahaub Tafreshinejad, 38, of Fairfield and was booked into the Solano County Jail.
