FAIRFIELD (KRON) — Officers arrested a male driver during a traffic stop for possessing narcotics and a loaded weapon in Fairfield, Tuesday night.

According to police, on Nov. 1 around 4:30 p.m. Officer Zach Geddes with the Fairfield police department Special Operations Team made a traffic stop for a car that failed to stop at a stop sign.

Once stopped, Officer Geddes discovered that the male driver was operating a vehicle with a suspended license. The driver was placed under arrest, and Geddes proceeded to search the vehicle.

Upon searching the car a loaded 9mm handgun was hidden underneath the driver’s seat and over 120 stolen prescription pills were in the car as well, according to police.

Police said the 25-year-old driver Demario Newton, was booked at the Solano County Jail for several weapon and narcotics related offenses.
