SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON has an exciting example of new artificial intelligence technology to show you on Monday night.

Facebook has been working on a new feature built on artificial intelligence for its mobile app. It recognizes pictures, which show up in newsfeeds and can read a description of the picture to visually impaired people.

Our tech reporter Gabe Slate met with a blind man, who has been using this and loving it.

Watch the above video to see Gabe’s full report.MORE INFO:You can try this technology for yourself. On an iOS device, enable VoiceOver by asking Siri to “turn on VoiceOver,” or by tapping on Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver.Once enabled, you can open the Facebook app and swipe to scroll through your News Feed or a profile. When you swipe past a photo, you’ll hear this technology tell you some of the items the photo may contain.
