SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the entire San Francisco Bay Area.
Bay Area cities are expected to break records Friday as triple digit temperatures sweep the region.
Highs at the coast are forecast to range from the 80s to mid-90s, while highs across inland areas will range from the upper 90s to 110. Some of the hottest inland locations may even see highs up around 115.
These temperatures will be the hottest of the year so far and this heat wave will also likely be the most intense our area has seen since late July 2006.
Livermore is expected to hit 116 degrees. The National Weather Service reports the city could break its all time heat record.
Even San Francisco will hit temperatures around 94 degrees.
BART trains will be reducing their speed system-wide between noon and 8 p.m. due to the heat.Riders should anticipate travel time increases of 10 to 20 minutes.
Managers of California’s power grid are asking for residents to voluntarily conserve electricity Friday.
Residents are being asked to cut back on use of electricity between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. when use of air conditioners is at its peak.
