Evacuation orders in Fairfield due to Nelson Fire lifted

Firefighters are battling a wildfire burning in Solano County.

It started Friday around 5 p.m. in the area of Nelson Rand Cherry Glen Roads in Vacaville.

The fire has since burned 1,000 acres and is 70 percent contained as of Saturday morning.

Evacuations were lifted Saturday for residents in areas including Constitution Avenue, Paradise Valley Estates Drive and Couples Circle north of Paradise Valley Golf Course.

“We’ve got several fire agencies that have come out. I’ve seen Cal Fire, several Solano County fire agencies… obviously Fairfield Fire Department is out here… and they’re just trying to get the fire out and not have any damage to property and most importantly we don’t want anyone to get hurt,” said Sgt. Matt Bloesch with Fairfield PD.

Police say residents may still be experiencing power outages in the area.
