The Butte County Sheriff’s Office ordered tens of thousands of residents to evacuate a fast-moving wildfire Thursday.
The wildfire, dubbed the Camp Fire, has exploded to 8,000 acres amid hot and windy weather conditions.
The following evacuation centers are open for residents:
Oroville Nazarene Church at 2238 Monte Vista Ave, Oroville, CA 95966
The Butte County Fairgrounds– 199 E Hazel St, Gridley, CA 95948
Animals can be dropped off at these shelters:
Old County Hospital at 2279 Del Oro and Mono, Suite E
Butte County Fairgrounds at 199 E Hazel St, Gridley, CA 95948
Any large animals that can’t be transported to a shelter should be left in open pastures with food and water, authorities say.
It’s critical, the animals are not locked up in a barn or shed in case the fire spreads.
