VACAVILLE (KRON) — An inmate allegedly escaped by walking away from a minimum-security facility in Vacaville Monday morning, according to officials.

The inmate, Jarvis Brown, 29, was last seen in his bunk at the California Medical Facility at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday but was missing during a head count that took place at 12:30 a.m., according to officials from the California Department of Corrections.

He is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds, according to corrections officials.

Brown was sent to the facility from Contra Costa County in May, when he started serving a three-year sentence for reckless driving and evading police.

“He’s a minimum-security inmate and he did not escape from the secure parameter,” said corrections spokeswoman Krissi Khokhobashvili.

While Brown was housed at the California Medical Facility, that does not mean he has any kind of medical or psychiatric conditions, Khokhobashvili said.

The facility also houses minimum-security firefighter and office staff work crews, she said.

Corrections officers, Vacaville police and officers from the California Highway Patrol are working together to locate and apprehend Brown.

“They’ll find him,” Khokhobashvili said. “We always find them.”
