Emeryville’s Clif Bars issues voluntary recall over listeria concerns

EMERYVILLE (KRON) — Emeryville’s Clif Bar & Company is issuing a voluntary recall of three of its products, according to CNN.

The Clif Bar Nuts and Seeds Energy Bars, Sierra Trail Mix Energy Bars, and Mojo Mountain Mix Bars are all included due to concerns of a listeria contamination.

The possible contamination is traced back to a sunflower kernel distributor

“We issued a press release to further expand our recall to cover the shelf life of roasted sunflower kernel products originating from our Crookston [Minnesota] facility. We expanded the recall because we cannot guarantee the quality of the affected products with absolute certainty, which is always our highest priority,” SunOpta’s president and CEO, Rik Jacobs, said in a statement.

Clif Bar has not received any reports of illness but is telling consumers to not eat the products.
