MARIN COUNTY (KRON) — Emergency crews are searching for a missing surfer in Marin County Wednesday night, according to Alexandra Picavet of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Picavet said a surfer spotted another surfer who was face down and unresponsive in the ocean. The surfer tried to pull the unresponsive surfer to shore, but the unresponsive surfer was washed out by a big wave.

The incident happened just off Rodeo Beach in the Marin Headlands recreation area. Southern Marin fire, the US Coast Guard, and the National Park Service is aiding in the search.

The air and sea searches have been called off until Thursday morning.
