SANTA ROSA (BCN) — Firefighters extinguished an electrical fire at the scene of a small residential marijuana grow Wednesday morning in Santa Rosa.

The structure fire was reported in the 700 block of Alaska Drive at 11:35 a.m.

Crews on scene found the garage of a wood-frame home burning and were able to stop the blaze from spreading to the living room of the home. Part of the garage was destroyed, however, according to firefighters.

A small marijuana growing operation was found inside the garage. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters said it appears to be electrical in nature.

Damage is estimated at $10,000 according to firefighters.

Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of receiving the report, and the incident was under control within 25 minutes.

No injuries were reported.
