SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An elderly woman was struck by a pick-up truck as she was crossing the street and suffered serious injuries in San Francisco’s Excelsior neighborhood Wednesday, according to police.

Officers said the pedestrian, described as a woman in her 80s, was crossing the street at Mission Street and Persia Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. when she was struck.

The driver of the pick-up truck remained at the scene and was not arrested, according to police.

Emergency crews transported the woman to San Francisco General Hospital where she was treated for life-threatening injuries including fractures to her arms, hips, and legs, according to police.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision and have not yet said whether the pedestrian or motorist had the right of way.
