SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A 77-year-old San Francisco woman was robbed of two jewelry boxes by a man posing as a utility worker in San Francisco’s West Portal neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon, police said today.
The resident, who lives in the 1400 block of Portola Drive near Vicente Street, told police that she heard her doorbell ring at around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
When she answered she saw a man believed to be in his 30s who told her he was a utility worker who had come to check the home’s pipes, police said.
She allowed the man to enter her home and while he distracted her another suspect apparently snuck into the home and stole the jewelry boxes.
Both suspects fled the home and have not been arrested, according to police.
