SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — It’s still unclear what happened to the elderly resident of an apartment in the Bayview where authorities found more than 160 cannabis plants growing in an apparently illegal operation.
Police got a call Monday afternoon from the property manager at the home on Bitting Avenue near Newhall Street. The manager says she had been unable to contact the elderly resident for several months. When she entered the home to conduct a smoke detector search, the woman says she found the pot plants.
Patrol officers, with the property manager’s permission, entered the home where they discovered 160 marijuana plants growing but no sign of the elderly resident. They also say they found lighting, ventilation, and moisturizing devices as well as hydroponic equipment.
There’s no indication of what might have happened to the resident or who had been growing the plants.
