Pacifica (KRON)  In Pacifica Friday morning, one homeowner was nearly swept away by a huge wave.

Terri Jackson was attempting to clean off her back porch when a wave jumped over a 15-foot seawall, rushed into her backyard, pinning her against the wall of her home.KRON4’S INTERACTIVE STORMTRACKER4 RADAR

This happened on Paloma Avenue where houses are right next to the seawall.

Waves in Pacifica have been battering the coast all week.

Terri’s cat was also in the backyard at the time and was briefly missing but was found a short time later hiding underneath a bed.

As a result of El Nino-fueled storms, the City of Pacifica Friday has declared a state of local emergency.

“El Nino is hitting the City’s coastline very hard and creating almost daily reports of impacts to both public and private property,” City Manager Lorie Tinfow said. “We need State and Federal assistance to respond to the growing list of failing public infrastructure including the Beach Blvd. sea wall failure.”
