UPDATE: A man killed in a shooting in East Palo Alto on Sunday night was identified Monday as Jarmal Marquise Magee, 31, according to the San Mateo County coroner’s office.
Police said Magee was a resident of East Palo Alto, but the coroner’s office said he was a San Leandro resident.
EAST PALO ALTO (KRON) — A man was shot and killed Sunday night in East Palo Alto, and police believe they may have a suspect.
The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m. 300 block of Wisteria Drive.
“A citizen called 911 to report hearing numerous gunshots followed by someone screaming,” said East Palo Alto police Cmdr. Jerry Alcaraz. “Multiple citizens began calling 911 to report a subject down possibly shot.”
Responding officers located a 31-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he later died.
No arrests have been made, but detectives have been following up numerous leads and have developed a possible suspect with the assistance of community members.
