SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — Monday evening,firefighters with the Alameda County Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire near San Leandro.
Officials with the fire department said that the fire broke out around 6:30 p.m. It burned in the area of the Highway 880 and 238 interchange.
The California Highway Patrol was called and closed one lane of the connector from the southbound 880 to the southbound 238 because of smoke.
By 8 p.m., officials with the fire department said that the fire was contained and was in mop-up phase.
Firefighters think that the fire may be related to a homeless encampment, but haven’t yet called an investigator to look over the area.
There were no reports of any injuries.
