LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two employees at a Dunkin’ Donuts were fired after they poured water on a homeless man who had nodded off while sitting at a table in the restaurant.

The video, which has drawn more than 6.1 million Facebook views since it was posted Sunday night, showed the man with his head down on a table in a nearly empty store, when he was awakened by a worker pouring a pitcher of water onto him.

“How many times I’ve got to tell you to stop sleeping in here,” the Dunkin’ Donuts employee said. The employee also used profanity toward the man.

The employee and another person not shown in the video could be heard laughing as the man gathered up his wet belongings.

The person shown in the video was identified on a GoFundMe page as Jeremy (Youngs) Dufresne. By Tuesday morning, a fundraiser set up to help him in the wake of the encounter had raised more than $14,866.

According to a local newspaper called the Post Standard, Dufresne suffers from schizophrenia and was in the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant using an outlet to charge his phone so that he could call his mother to say goodnight.

According to the newspaper, a homeless advocate stopped by the store to address the man’s treatment and threatened a boycott if management didn’t handle the situation accordingly.

CBS News reports the incident prompted a demonstration of roughly 20 people outside the store, with one protester carrying a sign reading “Homeless Lives Matter.”
