WALNUT CREEK (KRON) — Doughnut company Dunkin’ Donuts will open its first Bay Area in Walnut Creek, according to the restaurant chain.

The doughnut shop will be located at 1250 Newell Avenue, and it will open on June 22. The restaurant will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and will provide food and drink samples and special giveaways, the company said.

“The restaurant will provide a welcoming environment for guests to enjoy Dunkin’ Donuts’ food and beverages in a fun and friendly atmosphere, offering free Wi-Fi and warm, contemporary interior décor. Golden Gate Restaurant Group, LLC, the franchisee behind the new Walnut Creek restaurant, has plans to open 12 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in Contra Costa County over the coming years,” the company said in a press release.

“America runs on Dunkin’, and soon, the Bay Area will too,” said Matt Cobo, who is the owner of Golden Gate Restaurant Group, LLC. “Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches and of course, donuts, are enjoyed by millions of people around the world every day. Bay Area residents have long been asking for it, so we’re pleased to be opening our first restaurant in Walnut Creek.”

The company said the restaurant will be a DD Green Achievement restaurant.

“…The location incorporates sustainable features and practices, including energy-efficient LED light fixtures, water-saving plumbing fixtures, high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, indoor air quality management, use of zero-VOC paints and innovative energy technology to maximize equipment efficiency. A DD Green Achievement plaque will be displayed in-store signifying the restaurant’s achievement in energy reduction and sustainable design,” the company said.

The restaurant will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. Eighty people will be employed at the restaurant.
