Police in Richmond are warning people who use credit card readers at gas pumps to be on the lookout for skimming devices that are used to steal personal financial information.
Police posted the warning on Facebook after officers responded to a report of a tampered gas pump.
An investigation discovered pry marks along the outer door seam of the pump and skimming device located behind the credit card reader.
The tampered pump was found at the Valero gas station located at 5430 Central Avenue in Richmond.
Police say all pumps should have a security seal along any opening of the pump.
If this seal has been tampered with, report this to the gas station attendant immediately.
