FAIRFIELD (KRON) — A driver with prior weapons convictions was arrested on Wednesday for another weapons violation in Fairfield, according to police spokeswoman Kathryn McCormick.

Fairfield police initially stopped the suspect, 34-year-old Kenneth Williams, of Vallejo, for not wearing a seatbelt, McCormick said. The officer who stopped Williams found he did not have a valid driver’s license and was on Post Release Community Supervision for previous weapons convictions, police said.

Police searched Williams’ car and found a replica gun under the driver’s seat, along with a tire iron that could be used as a weapon, McCormick said.

Williams was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail for possession of an illegal weapon and driving without a license.
