(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol has arrested a driver for allegedly shooting at another car and leading officers on a pursuit along Interstate Highway 680 in Sunol Saturday night.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired near northbound Highway 680 near state Highway 84 on ramp around 9 p.m., said CHP officer Derek Reed.

The CHP describes the incident as a road rage incident. One car reportedly tried to run the other off the road, Reed said.

Officers were able to find the car that was the target for the shooter and the CHP was able to speak to the driver.

No one was injured during the shooting.

Officers then found the car that fired the shots which has been described as an orange Mercury Cougar.

The suspected car was traveling northbound on Highway 680 at Sycamore Valley Road in Danville, Reed said.

When officers tried pulling over the car, the driver refused to do so and kept driving on the highway.

The male driver then took the exit oat Ygnacio Valley Road in Walnut Creek and went into the BART station nearby, Reed said.

When the driver got to the BART station, he left his car and tried getting away on foot.

Officers were able to apprehend the driver.

The CHP has identified the driver as a Redwood City resident.

He was arrested on suspicion of failing to yield and possessing narcotics, Reed said.
