(BCN) — A driver was killed when her Ford Expedition collided head-on with a big-rig on state Highway 12 southeast of Fairfield this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The Ford Expedition was traveling west on Highway 12 near Shiloh Road in unincorporated Solano County around 10:25 a.m., CHP Officer Robert Koehne said.

The Ford drifted over the flexible, plastic lane delineators into the eastbound lane and collided with the big-rig, Koehne said.

The male big-rig driver tried to avoid a collision by driving over the fog line on the right side of eastbound Highway 12, Koehne said.

The big-rig jackknifed and blocked both eastbound lanes. The road remained closed until shortly after 2 p.m., Koehne said.
