Police shut down a popular intersection in Richmond to investigate a deadly traffic accident Friday morning.
At 4:26 a.m. Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office reported the San Pablo and Richmond Parkway intersection is “expected to be closed for sometime.”
KRON4’s Robin Winston reports a car became wedged under a big-rig.
It turns out the driver of that car was fleeing deputies after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation on San Pablo Damn Rd. He allegedly ran a red and crashed into the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Louis Marsh of San Pablo.
A passenger in that car was able to walk out of the car on his own.
“The officer-involved fatal incident protocol was invoked,” deputies said. “This incident is being investigated by the Richmond Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Contra Costa DA’s Office, and the Office of the Sheriff.”
The intersection was cleared and re-opened around 8:30 a.m.
