SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco police car was involved in an accident late Thursday morning.
Witnesses told first responders that a driver ran a red light and hit a police car near the corner of Eighth and Harrison streets.
That’s in the city’s South of Market, SOMA, neighborhood.
The calls started coming into police dispatch about the accident at 11:41 a.m.
An ambulance and rescue captain responded to the crash.
The police officer was injured and taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
As of shortly after noon, Harrison Street was blocked between Seventh and Ninth streets and Eighth Street was blocked between Folsom and Harrison streets as a result of the collision.
The highway off-ramp at Eighth Street was also closed.
