SANTA CLARA (KRON) — Police are looking for the driver who is responsible for a hit-and-run collision that injured an elderly man outside a Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara.
According to police, Saturday morning around 11:30 a.m., an 89-year-old man was walking through parking lot D at the hospital, located at 700 Lawrence Expressway, where he was struck by a car, police said.
The driver stepped out of the car and made contact with the elderly man, according to police.
Afterwards, the driver went to the hospital where he spoke with two volunteers, police said.
He then exited the hospital lobby and drove away, according to police.
The elderly man, a Santa Clara resident, was hospitalized for serious injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to police.
The driver is described as a dark-skinned man standing between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build and short black hair, police said.
Police have released surveillance video of the vehicle involved.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored SUV, possibly black or dark blue 1995-2001 Ford Explorer, police said.
