(KRON/BCN) — Two passengers were injured early Monday morning when a pickup truck overturned on southbound U.S. Highway 101 south of Santa Rosa and the driver fled, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The male driver fled the 2005 Dodge 3500 truck when it overturned in a ditch on the west side of the highway near Todd Road around 2:10 a.m., CHP Officer Juan Leon said.

Santa Rosa fire crews responded and extricated the two trapped passengers, who suffered major injuries and were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Leon said.
