RICHMOND (BCN) — A man fleeing from police crashed a vehicle into a house in Richmond Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
An officer was dispatched to the Deanza neighborhood in the city’s Northern District just after 1 p.m. on report of a suspicious vehicle “casing” a house.
The officer found the suspect vehicle on Morningside Drive and made a u-turn to intercept it when the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later found crashed into a house in the 3700 block of Sweetwood Drive.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
Two suspects fled from the vehicle and police responded to surround and search the neighborhood. The passenger was taken into custody near DeAnza High School, which was temporarily locked down as a result of the search.
He was identified only as an 18-year-old resident of Oakland.
The driver, who also fled, remained at large as of Tuesday evening. Police said that detectives may be able to identify him, and are therefore not releasing additional details about the investigation.
They are also trying to confirm whether burglaries may have occurred prior to Tuesday’s incident.
