LAKE TAHOE (KRON) — There was a scare for some skiers at Heavenly’s North Bowl in Lake Tahoe on Sunday. Dozens of skiers and snowboarders were evacuated from a chair lift at the Lake Tahoe resort.

People were carefully removed, one by one. The issue was an unoccupied chair suddenly fell from the cable. The lift was halted and 65 people were evacuated with the help of a ski patrol.

All operations at Heavenly remain suspended while an investigation into the cause of the failure continues.

The chair that fell was on it’s downhill run when the problem happened, leaving no one injured.

Although most people remained fairly calm, people who were there say that it was frightening.
