SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Doyle Drive will remain open over the weekend. It was supposed to be closed all weekend, but on May 21, the CHP Marin announced that the closure would be postponed.
Officials with the Presidio Parkway project say that the project was postponed to finish all of the testing and software integration of the tunnel fire-life-safety, traffic and communications systems.
“The project team is working closely with the State Fire Marshal to follow required testing protocol and secure approval to open the roadway. The tunnels cannot be opened to traffic before it has been demonstrated that the systems work as they were designed and are properly integrated,” said Ron Richardson, Chief Engineer with Golden Link Concessionaire.
A new closure date has not yet been announced.
Officials said that before the road is closed, the integration and testing must be certified by the State Fire Marshal.
