SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (BCN) — A tree that fell on state Highway 17 south of Los Gatos Thursday morning is blocking traffic, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.

Officers were notified at about 10:20 a.m. of a tree blocking Highway 17 in both directions north of Redwood Estates, CHP Officer Ross Lee said.

One northbound lane and a southbound lane were reopened about an hour later, Lee said.

A Caltrans crew has responded to the scene and is working to remove the tree, which is about 3 feet in diameter, according to Lee.

No injuries or property damage were reported, he said.

Lee estimated that the remaining lanes would reopen shortly after noon.

Los Gatos police have blocked off the on-ramp from South Santa Cruz Avenue to southbound Highway 17, Lee said.
