PHOENIX (KRON)—Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced Wednesday night he would pass Kate’s Law if he is elected president.

Trump said this during his speech focusing on immigration in Phoenix.

Kate’s Law would be designed to limit illegal immigration inside the United States, according to Trump.

The proposed law is named after Kate Steinle. She was killed while walking on San Francisco’s Pier 14 in July 2015.

The man accused of killing Steinle, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, is an illegal immigrant who has a criminal history.

Families of those who have been murdered by illegal immigrants gathered on stage during his speech. Kate Steinle’s family was not there.

Trump’s immigration plan would not offer a path to legal citizenship.

Campaigning in Ohio, Democrat Hillary Clinton jabbed at Trump’s Mexican appearance as she promoted her own experience working with foreign leaders as the nation’s chief diplomat.

“People have to get to know that they can count on you, that you won’t say one thing one day and something totally different the next,” she told the American Legion in Cincinnati.
