Dogs Rescued from S. Korean Meat Market Arrive in SF

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Thursday afternoon, the final 15 dogs rescued from a South Korean dog meat market will arrive at the San Francisco SPCA.

57 dogs were rescued from the meat market by the Humane Society International.

The dogs started arriving at the San Francisco SPCA on Monday.

Once the dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues they will be moved to other northern California animal shelters, where they will be available for adoption.

Those include East Bay SPCA, Marin Humane Society and Sacramento SPCA.

The Humane Society International worked with the dog farm owner, not only to save the dogs from horrible conditions, but also to close the dog farm for good.

Under the terms of the plan, the Humane Society International helped to provide assistance to enable the dog farm owner to get out of this business and into humane crop trading.

HSI will continue to follow the farmer’s progress to ensure he complies with the terms of the agreement.
