SAN JOSE (KRON) — A dog was killed in a two-alarm fire at a house in West San Jose Tuesday afternoon.
Around 1:45 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of black smoke visible from the front doors and windows of a house in the 1600 block of San Tomas Aquino Road. That is just south of Hamilton Avenue.
When crews arrived they called a second alarm for a possible rescue at the house, according to Fire Captain Peter Caponio.
Firefighters searched the house. They didn’t find any people, but found a small poodle that wasn’t breathing.
Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the poodle, but it was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire was knocked down at about 2:10 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
