LARKSPUR (BCN) — A high school junior was arrested in Larkspur Monday afternoon after police found a disassembled shotgun in his parked car on campus.

Officers with the Central Marin Police Authority were dispatched to Redwood High School, at 395 Doherty Drive, at 3:10 p.m. on report of a gun on campus.

School officials got an anonymous tip regarding a student with an “unregistered gun for sale” in his car, and responding officers found that student by the school gym.

He cooperated with their investigation, and gave officers permission to search his vehicle, according to police.

Inside they found an antique shotgun which had been disassembled. The weapon was in three separate pieces and no ammunition was found in the vehicle, prompting officers to state that there had been no immediate threat to students or staff.The student, a 17-year-old male, said he’s gotten the firearm from

The student, a 17-year-old male, said he’s gotten the firearm from a relative and had planned to get it cleaned. He was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm on school grounds and booked into juvenile hall, according to police.
