SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Chinatown in San Francisco is not usually where you find bold, modern cuisine.

But that’s changing.

On Wednesday night’s Dine and Dish, Vicki Liviakis takes us to a new hot spot called Mister Jiu’s.

Between the paper red lanterns and tourist shops, there’s a new presence in Chinatown. Hidden in an alley called Waverly Place is No. 28 – Mr. Jiu’s, the new kid in town.

Celebrated Chef Brandon Jiu made something different in Chinatown.

The delicate buns are housemade, and noodles are rolled fresh on the spot. Dishes almost too pretty to eat.

And the bar run by Danny Louie whips up concoctions like this one called, “Happiness.”

Mr. Jui’s is taking over the huge space that was once the Four Seas, and before that, Hang Far Low, back in the 1800s.

The giant gold lotus chandeliers hang as a reminder of the past.
