BERKELEY (KRON) — Nobody wants bugs in their food; or do they?

Berkeley’s Megan Miller of Bitty Foods makes and sells cricket flour and claims people are eating it up.

There are some people who swear the future of food had six legs. If you can get past the bugginess of it, bugs are high in fiber and protein.

La Urbana in San Francisco is in on the trend; camouflaging the “hidden protein” in a corn dish. They call is chompalinas.

A recent local Culinary Clash of young chefs even tricked KRON 4’s Vicki Liviakis into trying the buggy cruising.

Chef Anna from Mexico City crushed the competition, wowing the judges and the audience with her pork concoctions. She says it was the secret sauce that put it over the top.

And the secret? Creme of mosquito.
