Deputies: Tampa man beats pregnant woman, chases her to nearby home, beats her again

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A Tampa man is accused of beating a pregnant woman and then following her when she fled to a neighbor’s home where he beat her again.

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office say Ladarius Adam Lewis, 23, broke the glass from a front door to get into the woman’s home. Once he was inside the home, he began hitting and kicking the woman, who is 7-months pregnant.

The victim and her three roommates ran into a back bedroom and Lewis followed them. He continued to hit the woman and also hit two of her roommates. The women escaped from the room and ran to a neighbor’s house. Deputies say Lewis followed them there and continued to hit the pregnant woman after she was at her neighbor’s home.

Deputies responded and arrested Lewis. He is charged with two counts of Burglary of Dwelling with Assault or Battery, four counts of False Imprisonment and two counts of Aggravated Battery on Pregnant Female, Battery.

The sheriff’s office said the pregnant woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Details about her condition have not been released.
