Deputies investigating armed bank robbery in Windsor, asking residents to avoid area

WINDSOR (KRON) — Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies in Windsor are investigating an alleged bank robbery on Tuesday afternoon, according to Sgt. Cecile Focha.

Around 1:50 p.m., deputies received a report of an armed robbery happening in the area of the Lakewood Shopping Center at 9018 Brooks Road S., sheriff’s spokeswoman Cecile Focha said.

Shots were fired in the area, but investigators did not immediately know if anyone was injured, according to Focha.

Sheriff’s officials are asking residents to avoid the area as they continue to investigate the incident.Bay City News contributed to this report.
