It was an absolutely beautiful Memorial Day.
The weather was fantastic and so many people were out and about enjoying the day.
But not everyone got to head to the parks like they wanted to this afternoon.
“One things that I like about this day is that I get to spend time with family and friends and have a really great time,” said Aaron Gonzalez.
Gonzalez and his family are some of the lucky ones who got into Del Valle Regional Park just in time Monday morning, splashing around the lake and barbecuing.
The Regional Park Police Department tweeted just after 1 p.m. on Memorial Day that the park had closed because it reached capacity.
Five other parks were also closed and turning people away.
“We came early in the morning, but there was some people here already,” said Alexa Sanchez.
“When we got here it was very full, but we got here just in time,” said Eleazar Sanchez.
It may have been busy, but it wasn’t stopping people from having a great time.
They enjoyed the weather, the lake, and of course, being with their families.
“This is my first time being here. I like it because there is grass around so we can play football or something, and there’s also a lake right next to it, so we can play catch and swim and stuff,” said Julyssa Sandoval.
The park did re-open its gates later in the day, allowing people to enjoy the rest of their Memorial Day weekend.
