SAN MATEO (KRON) — Crews are working to fix a pothole on the San Mateo Bridge that is causing major delays for drivers on Wednesday.
The pothole opened up during the morning commute hours and is blocking the middle lane of westbound I-92.
The pothole is about 8 inches by 9 inches, according to an official with Caltrans.
A structure maintenance team is on scene trying to determine the cause but it is likely from normal wear and tear.
Emergency repair crews are on the bridge fixing the pothole.
Officials say the repairs should be done by the evening commute but there is no exact estimated time.
Authorities are advising drivers to avoid the San Mateo Bridge as there are delays of up to an hour.
