PLEASANT HILL (BCN) — Crews will complete repairing and resurfacing a Pleasant Hill street by this evening, after a sinkhole that opened up Friday night forced the closure of the street, according to police.
Contra Costa Boulevard is expected to be open by 5 p.m., according to police.
Police closed the street Friday around 9 p.m., when a sinkhole appeared after a water line had ruptured.
A water line located beneath the roadway surface of the southbound lanes broke, causing water to escape through the cracks in the street, flooding the roadway and nearby businesses, police said.
The continuous water flow also caused the large sinkhole to develop.
The repairs come just in time for a Fourth of July parade scheduled for Monday morning.
