SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — The search for a man seen jumping off the Dumbarton Bridge on Saturday was suspended Thursday when firefighters located the body of a victim in the San Francisco Bay.

Firefighters with the Menlo Park Fire Protection District suspended the search efforts for the man Thursday around noon when the victim was discovered in the bay near Cooley Landing, according to the fire district.

Fire crews first responded Saturday at 6:56 p.m. to reports a man had abandoned his vehicle on the center span of the Dumbarton Bridge and was seen climbing over the railing and jumping into the bay, firefighters said.

Crews with the Redwood City, Fremont and Alameda County fire departments and the United States Coast Guard joined in the search for the man.
