BOLINAS (BCN) –Firefighters contained a wild fire burning in a remote coastal eucalyptus grove near Bolinas this morning, according to the Marin County Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 3:13 a.m. roughly half a mile north of Agate Beach. It burned more than three acres and ultimately spread to within 100 feet of the shoreline, according to fire officials, according to Battallion Chief Mike Giannini.
The incident was fully contained by 10 a.m., but crews remained on scene to mop up hot spots.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged, but Giannini said that if this incident had occurred later in the fire season or during the heat of the day structures would have been threatened by flying embers.
This morning’s fire appears to be caused by human activity and Giannini said the incident remains under investigation.
